RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION SITE SUPERVISOR
The Residential Construction Site Supervisor is responsible for all phases of Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity home building. This individual leads the overall construction, from the excavation to occupancy. Responsibilities include working with the Executive Director, Core Building Committee, and the local Building Committee with project planning and execution. Additional responsibilities include leading & teaching volunteer construction crews, coordinating with the Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Coordinator to ensure proper staffing, recruiting and training Volunteer crew leaders, tracking volunteer hours, safety training, and waiver paperwork, coordinating with subcontractors, coordinating building materials and supplies, obtaining occupancy certification, & final walk through/inspections with partner homeowners.
WORK LOCATION: Barre, VT
SALARY: $27-$30 per hours/ 40 Hours a week.
Benefits: Vision and dental insurance. Accrued $2,000 annual stipend
POSITION: Temporary, Full time 40 hours/week, In-Person
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position temporary position starting July 2024-Feb. 2025. Five work days a week, Tuesday- Saturday. Volunteers are on site 9AM-3PM. Supervisor arrives earlier, and stays later to plan for the next day’s work.
REQUIRED TRAINING: Completion of the Habitat for Humanity International Competent Person Training will be required once hired.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of all phases of residential construction or housing rehabilitation
- Excellent carpentry skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- 3-5 years experience managing a construction site
- Good communication, leadership and team building skills to instruct unskilled volunteers
- Understanding of the most recent Vermont and local building energy codes.
- (Preferred) knowledge of Passive or High Performance Energy standards
- Patience, a sense of humor, and ability to work with diverse groups of people
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
On-site responsibilities of the Site Supervisor
- Opening the site and welcoming volunteers each day
- Matching work tasks with the skill level of volunteers
- Providing a clear understanding of the tasks to be performed by the volunteers
- Working with and training the volunteers as needed
- Keeping up-to-date construction documents
- Working with the architect to ensure the integrity of the building and fidelity with the design
- Monitoring subcontractors to ensure compliance with our specifications and procedures
- Anticipating potential problems and making recommended solutions
- Monitoring general building supplies and replenishing as needed (keeping to the budget)
- Working with the Construction Team to ensure a smooth flow of work
- Securing the work site before leaving
- Overseeing and enforcing all safety protocols established by the building committee
- Overseeing site and tool set up to support a safe work environment for multiple work teams
- Maintaining a clean work site
- Accounting for and cleaning all tools and equipment at the end of the day
- Notifying the Executive Director about any revisions that might impact the budget
- Scheduling Efficiency Vermont inspections to ensure we are following their guidelines
- Plan potential volunteer work activities for up to 3 weeks in advance and communicate to the Volunteer Coordinator for entry to the volunteer sign-up system
- Flag and discuss with the building committee any potential budget overages. Work with the team to adjust other purchases, if possible, to manage the target budget.
- Working with ED and budget coordinator to stay on budget (includes bi- monthly meeting with budget person/ED to reconcile invoices against budget)
- Regularly report updates to and work with the Executive Director
- Communicate with and schedule contractors making sure proof of insurance and W-9 tax information has been sent to ED, and any pre-work necessary for the contractor to do their work is complete, prior to coming on-site
- Order materials and schedule delivery to be on-site when needed
- Overseeing a log of volunteer’s hours, and contractors, if hired by the hour
- Oversee a log of safety training
- Ensuring that waivers are signed by new volunteers and contractors each day
- Maintaining an incident report and immediately reporting any accidents
- Collect and manage all receipts and invoices
- Meet monthly with the local B/C and provide building status update that will be presented to the Board
