Meet the Board:

​Edward McDonough, Board President
​Ed holds a Ph.D. in the fields of organizational behavior, as well as an MBA with a concentration in organization development and design. Before his retirement in 2021, he was a Professor at Northeastern for 42 years, where his research and consulting focused on executing innovation strategies and managing the global new product development process.  He was ranked 7th among the top innovation management scholars in the world.  Prior to that, he was an administrator in two start-up-companies and has consulted with numerous companies on organizing and managing their new product development and innovation efforts.  He has been a speaker and author, presenting over 75 scholarly papers in the U.S. and other countries.  His non-profit work includes being a founding member and former Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea, MA, a school specially designed to serve high school age students who are severely disadvantaged both academically and economically and he has also served as the President of the Mad River Valley Rotary Club.

​Kent is a retired Financial Consultant. He and his wife Cathy have lived year round in Greensboro since 2016.

Soren Pfeffer
​​Soren lives with his wife, Irene and their dog, Little Bear in East Montpelier. He has been the owner and principal broker of Central Vermont Real Estate in East Montpelier for 15 years.  In addition to his real estate experience, Soren has a masters degree in architectural design as well as over 20 years experience as a builder in the Central Vermont region.  Before getting into real estate, he and his wife ran an architectural design and construction firm, Thunder Mill Design together.  Soren brings a broad base of knowledge and experience to the process of helping buyers & sellers and encourages his clients to take advantage of his background in order to gain a better understanding of the condition, uniqueness, and potential of each property.

Christopher Caldwell
​​Christopher is the president and CEO of Community National Bank, a $1.2B bank in northern Vermont. He also is a member of the Board of Directors for the bank. Prior joining the bank and moving to Vermont in April 2021, he was the Senior Vice
President and Senior Lender for Mutual Bank which became a part of Northwest Bank in Muncie Indiana. With over 30 years of experience in banking, Caldwell started as a part-time teller before moving through the branch system. He has spent the last 20 years working primarily in the commercial lending functions before becoming senior lender at his most recent post prior to his move.

He is active in community engagement activities and groups including, Manchester University Board of Trustees, Board Chair, Green Mountain United Way, Stonier Graduate School of Banking Capstone Advisor, American Bankers Association Membership Committee, Vermont Bankers Association Executive Council, NEK Collaborative Board of Directors, Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors.

Caldwell and his wife, Bettie, live in Newport with their dog. They love Vermont living including golf, skiing, boating, snow shoeing, and hiking.

Patrick Shattuck
Patrick is the Executive Director of RuralEdge, the Housing Development Corporation serving Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.  Born and raised in Burlington, Patrick returned to Vermont to take the helm of RuralEdge in 2019.  Patrick has over 30 years in the affordable housing and community development field at all levels with different perspectives.  Since buying his first home in an underserved community in Savannah, Georgia when he was 19, Patrick has served on boards, been a community organizer for a NeighborWorks organization, worked for the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board for a decade, spent 12 years working on housing development in former steel towns in municipalities around Pittsburgh, PA, while simultaneously serving as Council President for one of the most distressed municipalities in PA.  In all instances, he committed himself to improving housing and community conditions for everyone.
 
Patrick and his wife have three children and enjoy renovating their circa 1800 home on the Connecticut River and attending auctions to find bargain treasures to fill it.
