Key Responsibilities:
Annual Giving(AG)
- Direct and manage all aspects of a comprehensive and strategic Annual Giving Plan, including direct mail and online giving solicitations.
- In collaboration with the Fundraising & Outreach Committee, develop and produce materials for the AG plan.
- Plan and execute all AG solicitations with the following objectives: communicating the CVHFH mission, renewing and increasing donor gifts and acquiring new donors.
- Use the AG plan to develop a pipeline of prospects for major gifts by identifying prospects for the next level of giving.
- Direct all AG donor acknowledgements: including written, phone, and in-person stewardship.
- Lead the Fundraising & Outreach Committee in order to maximize impact and fundraising through development events.
- Plan, implement, and direct existing development events (1 winter auction, 1 Spring Tent Sale, 1 Summer Attic Sale) in order to meet fundraising, donor acquisition, cultivation, stewardship, and community engagement goals as determined in coordination with CVHFH leadership.
- Identify new fundraising or outreach event opportunities.
- Work in collaboration with the Fundraising Committee to create and produce event-related materials and promotion.
- Plan and direct all event-related acknowledgements and stewardship.
- Identify new prospective donors through event participation.
- Lead all event support staff and volunteers.
- Work with the Executive Director and Fundraising & Outreach Committee to cultivate, solicit, and steward grant opportunities.
- Prepare and submit grant applications, prioritizing recurring grants and adding new opportunities whenever possible.
- Research new prospective grant donors
- Manage grant application processes, updates, and grant reporting.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships, people management and organizational growth. Responsible for planning and carrying out assignments. Director of Resource Development is responsible for managing the delegation of work to the Fundraising & Outreach Committee Members, volunteers, and others to ensure that deadlines and quality control standards are met.
- Work both independently and in a team environment and is responsible for the quality and technical accuracy of the work produced by the Fundraising & Outreach Committee.
- Personal warmth, charisma, and energy; a natural preference for collaboration and confidence with people of different backgrounds.
- Experience building and sustaining relationships with individuals – employees & volunteers, businesses, community leaders, faith-based organizations, and strategic partners.
- Proven ability to build and manage efficient and effective teams.
- Advanced knowledge of fund development theories, principles, and procedures.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in grant writing and management. Preferred experience with Federal and Vermont State Grants.
- Commitment to a high standard of ethics, including but not limited to maintaining a high level of confidentiality with information acquired about Habitat prospects, donors, and volunteers.
- Minimum 3-5 years of successful development experience in non-profit or for-profit organizations, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience managing fundraising software
- Successful experience with creating and completing a development strategy
- Ability to lead, willingness to be coached, confident in situational leadership
- Demonstrated experience in the engagement of volunteers in their work
- Passion and calling to empower families and revitalize communities through affordable homeownership and owner-occupied home repair
- Exceptional communication skills and will have a calm and pleasant demeanor when working with a wide variety of people
- Successful experience with a major capital campaign
- Bachelor or advanced degree
