Story: Rosie Williams donated 11 Highland Ave in Barre City to CVHFH at the end of 2019. The 1920s “four square” was totally gutted and rehabilitated to meet high performance energy standards. With only a single heat pump for heating and all Energy Star Appliances the home is inexpensive to maintain and operate. CVHFH partnered with Shawn Bates, a lifelong Barre resident, and his two children who, in exchange for investing their own “sweat equity” into the home, became the homeowners with a 0% interest mortgage and affordable (less than 30% of their income) monthly payments. 140 volunteers committed over 4,000 hours to help rehabilitate the home.
